About us

Bromsgrove & Redditch Welcome Refugees (BRWR) is a voluntary organisation supporting refugees living locally. Most of the people we help have fled from Syria, and been welcomed to Worcestershire under the government's "Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme".

Since 2016 we have enabled and empowered refugees to successfully integrate into their local and wider communities. We comprise entirely of volunteers, with our main emphasis on offering friendship, assisting with spoken/written English and giving practical help to refugee families starting a new home. We run regular inclusive activities that help refugees build confidence. Many of the people we support have taken opportunities to find employment, study at a higher level, or regularly volunteer themselves.

BRWR does not receive formal funding for the services and goods we provide. Instead we fundraise through events and projects, like the sale of our “RefuJuice” (a delicious drink made from surplus apples).

We have an ongoing educational programme in schools and community groups, raising awareness about multiculturalism, integration and the refugee crisis. We also link closely with the county council, and five other “refugee welcome groups” across the county.

If you would like to know more about volunteering with BRWR, or how you can help, feel free to contact us by emailing [email protected] More information about our work can be found at:

We need your help – please support us.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Peter Rendell
